Example Agile Sprint Review Template
Sprint Review is a valuable Agile ceremony to gather feedback. As with any presentation, the content of the presentation should be the focus, not the quality of presentation. To help achieve this focus, using a Sprint Review template, will achieve this focus which will lead to valuable feedback about the product. A Sprint Review template will ensure that all the important information will be shared on a regular basis.
Here is an example Sprint Review Template. This Sprint Review template provides an example agenda, and multiple slide layouts.
Title Slide
Simple title slide. Mention which team’s Sprint Review it is, the Sprint you are reviewing, and the date of the Sprint Review. Keep this slide on the screen while you wait on the complete group to enter the Sprint Review.
Agenda
Simple agenda slide. Briefly go over what will be presented in the Sprint Review. Sharing the agenda ahead of the Sprint Review will allow key stakeholders and leaders invite others that may want to learn about your Sprint.
Sprint Overview
Remind the key stakeholders and leadership what the Sprint goal(s) were. List the goal(s), but elaborate on them when speaking. Discuss the status of the goal(s) and allow for brief questions.
Stakeholders may want updates on specific user stories or bugs. Share which were complete and any that may not be finished. Do not spend much time going into detail for each user story. Mention bugs the Agile team worked on too.
Sprint Challenges
List challenges the team has faced, or is currently facing. Briefly explain what the team did to overcome any challenges that were fixed. You can use this slide to highlights areas where key stakeholders and leadership can help and take on ownership removing some of these challenges.
Demo Slides
A blank Sprint demo slide where you could insert a screenshot, or a video. Use if text is not needed.
A Sprint demo slide with two columns. One column can contain text information. The other column can contain a screenshot, or video.
A Sprint demo slide with three columns. One column can contain text information. Another column can contain a screenshot, or video. And a third for more information such as value. This is slide works well for technical debt and bugs.
Action Items/Learnings
At times, you may want to share Sprint Retrospective action items, or learnings from the previous Sprint. These learnings may help other teams within the organization and presenting them briefly will share that knowledge.
Upcoming Sprint
Preview the upcoming Sprint and what is the tentative plan for the work to be done. Ensure you communicate that the plan is not final and will be determined completely after Sprint Planning.
Questions
Use the 8 seconds rule to allow for final questions. Giving 8 seconds will allow at least one stakeholder to gather their thoughts and questions. Let them speak, and answer any questions. If the 8 seconds run its course without any questions or feedback, move on to closing the Sprint Review.
Closing Slide
Thank everyone for joining. Remind attendees that if they have follow up questions they can reach out to the Product Owner/Manager or the Scrum Master. Leave this screen up while people leave. And don’t forget to stop the recording.
